Common Misconception in the Bible Teachings - Smoking is not a Sin
Common Misconception in the Bible teachings – Smoking is not a Sin.
Written by Joseph Ho, May 4th, 2009
Whenever you like something you will find a reason to support it. The above statement is such a case. Most smokers will say that smoking is not a sin. They want biblical proof that says “smoking is not a sin” and they want scriptural proof. Smoking is a sin and it not an ordinary one, its worst. Smoking is a physical bondage of the soul to a demonic spirit of nicotine. Yes, it’s the spirit of nicotine which torments the smoker to smoke. The so called habit is not a habit which can be dropped easily by being conscious. Smoking is a demonic possession because the smoker has invited the spirit into their body through the mouth gate.
Did you not know that all plants contain spirits?
What did Jesus do when he cursed the fig tree to die? The spirit left the fig tree immediate and the carcass of the fig tree withered. Without life in it, we as human can not be sustained when we eat vegetables, all living things contain life and all life contains spirits within them to serve its intended function. Tobacco contains the spirit of nicotine, and it’s a demonic spirit which will bind the person in bondage to smoking, unless the user stopped or get deliverance. This is not charismatic superstition, its truth, deep truth or uncommon knowledge, wisdom for those who have been given the gift of understanding.
Can the smoker quit by himself?
No, its not possible for the smoker to quit by themselves without some form of will power. Some people can do it and I have first hand witness of such people, praise god for them. But most people including myself need deliverance. This spiritual deliverance in real life showing the power of our Lord Jesus Christ to set free all captives, people who are in bondage to sin. When I first accepted the Lord Jesus as my personal savior, I was a smoker for 12 years. And I could not stop smoking, each day I smoke a pack faithfully and even during the nights at the wee hours of the morning I had to wake up and walk a distance to buy a pack of cigarettes just to satisfy the craving even though I was very tired. But I will never wake up early to buy my wife some supper, that was me and it was very illogical. Serving the cravings of the demon was more urgent than serving my beloved wife. This is a typical case of demonic possession. You may think I was saying this to make it spectacular and sensational. No, I am not, I only speak the truth to you, and I will let you decide which is which.
How did I realize this smoking was a demon possession?
After being saved for 2 years, I still continue to smoke. By being saved, I mean I said the sinners’ prayers and I confessed all my sins, and I asked Jesus Christ to be Lord and Savior over my life. I did not experience any miracle immediately, no sky parting, no dove dropping into me body, no voice from heaven speaking to me, no Holy Spirit baptism; no set free kind of experience. I remembered smoking with my right hand and reading the bible with my left, it looked out of place to me one day after 2 years of doing this sort of thing. Finally, I began to question the power of Jesus to set us free. Nothing came and no answers came and I continue to smoke, until one day I was prompted in my heart to visit a friend who had invited me for dinner. In the conversation, he said not to worry about my smoking habit but to trust the Lord, and he will set me free. This was the beginning of me hearing from God who is responding to me about my problem. I was afraid to stop since I needed a smoke every now and then. I would use sweets and gums to stop my urge but them I would end up smoking and eating sweets and gums, what a mess. When I received this word, I had the strangest feeling in my heart, I felt peace and that the word was a true word sent to me since a few days before, I was earnestly seeking help for my smoking habit.
Demonic deliverance took place when God sent His word to set me free?
A few weeks went by, and again I was reading the bible and smoking as usual. Then something struck me and I began to question the Lord again about the lack of power of the Holy Spirit setting me free from smoking. There was no evidence of this in my life and I began to think God was a fairy tale story. I told the Lord that I wanted to know what he thinks of smoking and he should give me a verse directly from the bible and it should not be the verse on “your body being the temple of god” it should speak directly to me regarding smoking. Suddenly I turn the page to Isaiah 44,
1 Corinthians 6:19
What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
Isaiah 44:19-24 (New International Version)
19 No one stops to think,
no one has the knowledge or understanding to say,
"Half of it I used for fuel;
I even baked bread over its coals,
I roasted meat and I ate.
Shall I make a detestable thing from what is left?
Shall I bow down to a block of wood?"
20 He feeds on ashes, a deluded heart misleads him;
he cannot save himself, or say,
"Is not this thing in my right hand a lie?"
21 "Remember these things, O Jacob,
for you are my servant, O Israel.
I have made you, you are my servant;
O Israel, I will not forget you.
22 I have swept away your offenses like a cloud,
your sins like the morning mist.
Return to me,
for I have redeemed you."
The Lord has sent me his reply through Isaiah 44:20. See this is not a verse taken out of context because it became illuminated to me. This verse became alive, the Rhema word was quickened by the Holy Spirit and it spoke to my heart. It says, I am feeding on ashes, smoking is the act of inhaling ashes, the burnt tobacco leaves. A deluded heart misled him, meaning my heart was deceived and had made a wrong judgment. And I can not save myself or quit from this thing; even more strange was the fact that I was holding a cigarette in my right hand at the time I read this verse. So I immediately repented and asked the Lord to save me from this thing which I love so much and can not give it up.
Then, I heard the Lord speak to me, he said, “Are you truly ready to give it up? Then command the spirit of nicotine to come out in my name”. I was again confused, how can I speak to this thing inside of me, shouldn’t someone else be commanding this spirit inside of me to come out of me? Nevertheless, I heard the same voice saying the same thing persistently. So, I myself pointing to my face with my right index finger, I commanded the spirit of nicotine to come out of my body in Jesus’ name. And suddenly, a deep surge from the center of my chest came a deep vomit, so intense was the feeling that I felt something run away from my mouth and came out of my body as in a rush of air.
Then, again the Holy Spirit instructed me to go buy a pack of cigarettes since I had ran out of cigarettes. It sounded good to me as I did not know what had happened. The minute I took the very first puff, I vomited, it tasted like garbage trash; the smell was horrible and repulsive unlike what I experienced in the past when I smoke. And the Lord told me that that was the real taste of tobacco when smoked. So I took everything, my cigarettes and lighters and threw them away.
The next day when I awoke, the spirit of nicotine will come back again to pester me, this time he speaks to my ears to tell me to smoke again; persuading me to do it again. But I spoke to it strongly and asked the spirit to get lost and never to return and I prayed a permanent prayer of renouncement against this spirit. I said “Get lost in Jesus name, you can not come to me anyone, I denounce you forever, in Jesus name” And the voice disappeared and it did not ever come to visit me again.
In truth, smoking brings in the spirit of nicotine and it torments the person to smoke and to do its bidding every hour of the day. We serve this spirit, and we will spend our money and also our health in serving this useless “habit” which I call bondage. Anyone who smokes can not expect to have a good future since they are killing themselves slowly. Smoking contains 400 chemicals including insecticide used to treat the tobacco leaves and that is poison not to mention the tar which can destroy the flexibility of the lungs which we need for breathing. Unless you ever experience shortness of breath you will never fully appreciate the free air that we breathe. This is a sin which causes us death in the long run. It will not kill you instantly, but it surely and slowly kills you over a long period of time. But, the wages of sin is death, slow or fast it’s finally death to those who do not care for their body. We are stewards of God’s blessings and we must all bare that responsibility, for whatever we sow that we shall reap. A Christian can be sick for two reasons, firstly he violates the spiritual laws of God and the second, he violates the physical laws of God regarding consuming the proper food for nourishment of the body.
Our body is the temple of God and the Holy Spirit dwells within us. Those who smoke can not expect to receive the baptism in the Spirit since the Holy One will not dwell with a smelly one. There is no way for two distinctly different class of spirit to be in a person except that they be of the same source, demonic spirits can go up to millions within a person. But Demonic and Holy Spirit can not dwell in the same body. Should you need to learn more about the deep truth do go to my web or send me an email and I will be glad to answer your questions. God bless you and may you be set free from all demonic possession, when Christ set you free you shall be free indeed.

Bible passage about not worrying about other people?
I once read a version of the Bible which had a sort of index of issues. One of them was something like 'being bullied/feeling inadequate' and the passage it suggested was along the lines of 'Don't worry about what other people do and don't do as it doesn't affect you'.
I'm now trying to find that passage and can't, can anyone either tell me where I could go to search by 'issue' online or better yet is it a famous enough passage that someone can point straight at it?
